A garage address is not a door type
A private overhead door and a communal parking entrance are different kinds of equipment. Say which you have, who manages it and whether the issue instead involves a pedestrian lock. The general repair offering on this page does not establish service for shared gates or electronic access systems. Our garage or shared-access guide helps you make that distinction without naming a part.
Describe the last normal attempt
Report what you already saw: no movement, stopping partway, reversal, an uneven position or an unfamiliar sound. Include the control you used and whether the door is now open or closed. Repeated operation is not needed to gather evidence and can make a problem worse. A description helps organize the assessment; it cannot prove which component failed.
Keep clear while arranging help
Stay away from a crooked or partly raised door and keep people and vehicles out of its path. Do not adjust springs, cables or unfamiliar release hardware. If equipment details are readable safely at ground level, have them ready, but do not climb or enter a hazardous area for a label. Mention a car trapped inside without attempting to lift damaged equipment to reach it.
Confirm a repair, then the scope
Provide the address and the owner or authorized property contact. Ask which repair assessment can be supported and what the estimate covers. Parts and the actual fault may need checking before a final approach is agreed. New-door installation, industrial doors and ongoing maintenance contracts are outside the confirmed offering here. A change in the proposed work should be explained before you authorize it.
